2008 Is a Year of Low Sales

2009 Ford F-150

Bad economy year for America got reflection on auto dealers. Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Smart are reporting about low sales and a big drop comparing to the previous year.

Ford has been losing sales for 10 months in a row already and September was the lowest in this industry year dropping by 34%. “Floor traffic” at dealerships fell by 50% and this is the worst situation since 1986 (the year when these events started to be reported).

The Detroit auto manufacturer hopes F-150 pickup truck can help to raise the sales. Its sell-down is already ahead of schedule and the company hopes the vehicle will keep high number.

All the above mentioned car makers admit the car business in U.S. suffers a big failure, but the economy is not the only problem, many of them think the tightened credit situation makes the sales even worse.
