The 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show is going to be the largest one this year. It is opening tomorrow, on September, 15. This is not only the major German exhibition, but the largest one worldwide, so all automakers are working for the best presentations at the show.
It is obvious than all German manufacturers will present their best models there. Some great debuts will take place tomorrow: the production versions of Audi R8 convertible, BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo, BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and Mini Crossover. There have also been talks about two concepts of Mini convertible, next-generation BMW 5 Series and high-performance Volkswagen-Golf. With the joint efforts of German specialists an Electric Trabant was designed specifically for this exhibition.
Foreign manufacturers have also prepared interesting debuts. First of all, Ferrari is coming to the show with the new supercar 458 Italia. The same company will also bring Fiat Punto Evo and Maserati GranCabrio. French automakers bring Peugeot iOn, Citroen DS3 and Peugeot RCZ Concept and Hybrid. American manufacturers present 2011 Ford C-Max and Fisker Karma. There will also be debuts from Asia: Lexus LF-Ch, Kia Venga, Kia Cee’d, Huyndai Tucson and Huyndai ix-Metro. And do not forget the mysterious cars like Rolls-Royce Ghost and Lamborghini Revention both of which are coming to the show too.
Volkswagen came to the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show with a new small car. E Up! is called “the Beetle of the 21st Century” by the manufacturer although it has a significantly different look from the bug-car.
Russian cars do not have a very good reputation on the world auto market. They have always had very good military vehicles, but this is all the Russian manufacturers are famous for. So, nobody expected a presentation of a Russian supercar at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show.
The 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show had a lot of great vehicles which might become stars of the new generation. One of them is Citroën Revolte, the plug-in hybrid which became a “graphic quotation” of the famous 2CV, one of the most popular cars in France.
There have been a lot of talks about the new car from Rolls-Royce, primarily because of the mystery created by the manufacturer around the Ghost. The next week all the details will be unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show.
Manufacturers are not the only ones who present their designs at auto shows: German tuner, Irmscher Automobilau is going to the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show with the upgrade package for the 2010 Opel Astra.
