2009 Frankfurt Auto Show: Marussia B2

Marussia B2

Russian cars do not have a very good reputation on the world auto market. They have always had very good military vehicles, but this is all the Russian manufacturers are famous for. So, nobody expected a presentation of a Russian supercar at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show.

The display held three Marussia models: two of them had a body of B1 presented in the end of last year, and one was with the B2 body. The supercars were made of different materials: a white B1 and blue B2 has carbon-fiber bodies while a white-and-blue car was made of basalt.

The Russian cars really have a great look, but they remind about the creations of Pagani Zonga and Apollo Gumpert. There should still be some additional work done of the projects, but the progress comparing to the previous year model is big as well.

There is nothing special about the engine: Marussia runs on a 3.5-liter V6 engine which outputs 245 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. The car goes from 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds and gains the top speed of 155 mph.

The company representative, Nikolai Fomenko, says they have already received fully-paid orders for 17 Marussias which cost around 100,000 euros.
