Just a few days passed since Fiat sent a teaser to the Internet and made fans wonder, and now the company unveils the details of the Fiat Convertible 500C which is going to the 2009 Geneva Auto Show.
The small car is planned to be the hottest city-to-beach auto in Europe. Last year Fiat 500 has already brought a lot of good news to the manufacturer including great sales and numerous awards with 2008 European Car of the Year on top of all this.
The Italian automaker offers the same variety of engines as in the models two years ago: four cylinder 1.2- and 1.4-liters that output 68 and 99 horsepower respectively and 1.3-liter Multijet diesel that provides 74 hp. In a few more months Fiat wants to have a turbocharged addition too. All versions of 500C will have five-speed transmission and Start and Stop fuel-saving technology.
The design of the new Fiat goes back to 500L developed in 1957. The manufacturer says it has several advantages over the usual convertibles: the cargo space is almost unaffected when the soft top is down and many customers will probably like to have the unfolding rear window offered in this model.
After the Auto Show Fiat 500C is going to the European dealerships in May. If everything goes right, American customers might be introduced to this small car in 2012.
If Chrysler-Fiat partnership will work out fine, one of the new cars U.S. customers will receive is Fiat 500C presented at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show.
Automakers love to tease public and media with new projects. The 2009 Geneva Auto Show is starting soon and journalists run around collecting all the information they can to be the first ones to tell about the upcoming models.
General Motors is happy to announce that the sale of Saab and Opel is coming to the final talks. There have been several candidates, but the manufacturer has the number of them to final three for each brand.
