A Japanese manufacturer, Daihatsu Motor, known for its small cars and off-roaders is going to present a microvan at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show. It can be both a cargo vehicle and a passenger auto.
The Deca Deca runs on a turbocharged 1.3-liter three-cylinder engine with a front-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission. While on pictures the van looks like a standard vehicle of this kind, in reality it is very small: 133.7-inch wheelbase is a foot shorter than the one that Mini Cooper has.
The Daihatsu microvan has no passenger door on the right-hand side of the vehicle where the driver sits. It only has a single door and a massive sheet-metal panel on that side and a small horizontal window at the top. From the other side the Deca Deca is equipped with two doors hinged at the front and rear to provide easier access. The floor is low and flat, the seats can be reconfigured to improve the capacity of the vehicle.
More details on Deca Deca will be revealed at the show.
