Safety in a vehicle is the most important factor and the modern autos come up with the new models of airbags. Right now we are already used to the fact there are airbags in cars and don’t pay much attention to the signs inside of the vehicles which point out where the airbags are.

TRW Automotive GmbH came up with the idea of a new type of an airbag. The driver and passengers of a standard car with a hard top are very well protected from all sides, but it is not so for those who drive convertibles. TRW presents a special head-protecting airbag mounted directly into the seat’s headrest which is really effective for a convertible car.

Actually there is a whole system: an airbag in the bottom part of the seat which protects thorax and pelvis areas and the one in the headrest. Both of them prevent the driver from the side impacts.

This is not the only project the company has. They are also developing a compact knee bag which can be installed into all kinds of autos.
