Alfa Romeo Comes Back

Alfa 8C Spider

Fiat Company announced they are going to take Alfa Romeo to the U.S. market. It is obvious among the first models will be 8C Spider. Fiat has already been on American market in 1996 when they were selling a scant 400 for the year.

In the beginning the cars are going to be exported from Italy, but in the nearest future Fiat plans to produce them in North America. As Luca de Meo, the head of Alfa Romeo, said, they are considering Mexico as a production base. If everything goes right as Fiat plans, 2012 will be the year of the first Alfa Romeo production. The company has already looked for a partner who could help on American market. Right now they are considering Detroit manufacturers for this role.

According to Fiat chief executive, Sergio Marchionne, the main reason why they want to start North American production is to avoid currency issue. Due to strong euro position and dollar weakness the company might lose on the export.

If Alfa Romeo will do well, Fiat plans to bring more of their products. Since mini-cars are becoming more popular due to their little fuel usage, the European Car of the Year in 2007, Fiat 500 can be an Italian Mini beginner on North American market.
