Usually we read about the new vehicles designed, tested and presented at various auto shows ready for sale in a few months. Everything is nice and shiny; the cars are in the perfect condition and ready to meet their new customers.
But rarely do we come across the failures, the cars that don’t pass the crash tests, safety requirements or other standards. One of the examples like this we see this week. The prototype of Audi A7, Audi mule, was running through some tests in Nurburgring and… didn’t make it.
Usually the new models are kept in secret and you cannot see the details on the spy photos, but only the full-cover camouflage. This time the car was absolutely open and the photographer could make really good pictures.
When Audi A7 was crushed, it got mounted on a flatbed truck and towed away. The driver is said to be unhurt.
The designers have some time to work on the car remodeling and testing again. Audi A7 will not be shown to the public till 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show and is going on sale only in 2010.
Audi plans to launch the North American sales of highly advertised compact SUV, Q5, in March. The manufacturer says it will be an equal competitor to the other foreign sport-utility autos like BMW X3, Lexus RX 350 and Infiniti EX35.
