For those who are worries about safety Mercedes created armored 2010 E-Class model package. The driver and passengers do not need to worry about any attacks with the E-Guard because the steel body of the auto withstands gunfire and explosions.
Additionally to the price of the car an owner would have to pay $58,500 for the package if he/she wants to be protected from outside world. E-Guard will be available for German customers in April 2009.
The designers of the package say the car becomes invulnerable to .44 Magnum bullets and hand grenades thanks to high-strength steel and polycarbonate windows. Since the armor adds significant weight to the car, the manufacturer had to include stronger brakes and improved suspension.
E-Guard package also offers run-flat tires. If something goes wrong and the tires run out of air, the Mercedes will be able to keep going for another 50 miles with the maximum speed of 50 mph.
As an option the customers can get an emergency alert system. It turns on the alarm sound and flashes the headlights when driver pushes the button.
