Auto Insurance Company Has Failed to Cover its Customers

Auto Insurance Company

A major auto insurance company, Co-operative Insurance (CIS), has not renewed the policies of about two thousand of its customers despite promising them it will. As the result, the uninsured motorists drive illegally due to the fault of their insurance company. CIS officials say that the company sent to its customers certificates but failed to take their money in order to renew their insurance cover.

Now the Co-operative Insurance is sending these drivers letters with warnings that they are not covered as their certificates are void unless they contact the CIS to renews their motor insurance. It has to be noted that the innocent customers of this insurer are literary breaking the law, or, more specifically, committing a technical offence, by driving without a valid insurance coverage, which is technically a sole fault of the CIS.

CIS’s official Duncan Bowker says that the affected policyholders were usually paying for the premium by their debit or credit cards, but the company software experienced technical problems and therefore failed to collect the premiums from their customers. He also adds that any valid claims from CIS customers will be respected and met by the company. Although any prosecution because of this situation is highly unlikely, the CIS is obligated to consider all claims that might arise under the provisions of the Road Traffic Act.
