Even tuners sometimes make mistakes. In April the Mustang tuner Roush started selling the new package which increases the price of 2010 Mustang by $15,000 and changes the outside and inside look of the car, puts new wheels and suspension.
After the examination National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that all 2010 Mustang with Roush package including Roush 427R Mustang, Roush Stage 1 Mustang and Roush Stage 2 Mustang have to be recalled for the loose bolts on the brake kit. The owners of 81 Mustangs should contact Roush because “the caliper anchor plate mounting bolts may become loose or dislodged during operation” which leads to “a loss of stopping performance, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash” reports NHTSA.
The tuner says that the bolts were not tight enough because of weak torque at the time of installation and now the company is ready to fix the problem. The customers will be notified this week and the dealers will remove and replace both front and back caliper anchor plate mounting bolts for free.
The problem was first reported by a Ford dealer which was driving the demonstration vehicles and noticed the significant failure in the performance. Different car owners have heard noise coming from the front end of their vehicles. A test driver, who also heard a noise, investigated it and resumed driving had to apply emergency brake because the caliper bolt was loose and the caliper came out.
If you plan to purchase a 2010 Mustang and want to pay around $30,000 for it, go for the standard edition from the manufacturer.
The year 2010 is not here yet, but the manufacturers already start recalling vehicles marked as 2010 models. Here is one of them: Mitsubishi is requested to recall 531 of 2010 Endeavor for airbag problem.
Manufacturers are not the only ones who present their designs at auto shows: German tuner, Irmscher Automobilau is going to the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show with the upgrade package for the 2010 Opel Astra.
The 2010 Ford Mustang won the new test of sporty cars and coupes held by Consumer Reports. It showed to be better than Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger. The Mustang was qualified as “an even more balanced and satisfying driver's car than ever before.”
Sometimes having great sales and producing autos too quickly might turn against the car manufacturer. This is what happened to Toyota which has to recall nearly 700,000 cars in China because of such minor problem as a faulty window switch.
