How many things do you have which are made in China? Is it easier to find something made in China or in U.S.? Almost every store and almost every department is the store has 90% of goods made in China.
Are we making China rich? Probably so. At least the car market shows the demand on luxury autos in the country grew immensely. Last year the car manufacturers sold more than 30% more autos than they did the years before.
The main German brands are happy their sales are so high in China. BMW is reporting 28% grows in the first half of this year. The company has already sold 30,325 BMWs and mini cars in the period from January to June. BMW produces its vehicles in China together with Brilliance China Automotive Holding. The plant they have there is able to assemble only 40,000 autos a year, but they plan to build an additional one, which can assemble 100,000 cars a year.
Mercedes-Benz has even higher numbers. The sales for the company show 52% growth for both imported and locally made cars in these six months. China is the second largest market for Mercedes S-Class vehicles and the company has already sold 6,800 imported autos of this kind.
In general Mercedes is coming really close to BMW by the number of vehicles they offer to Chinese customers. Soon the companies will be even competitors on this market.
BMW designers decided to create a car made out of fabric, probably hoping in a case of an accident it will be easier to fix it just by sowing it back together.
