There have already been rumors about some Asian companies being interested in the purchase of Ford’s Volvo and a few days ago Chery Automobile officially confirmed its concern about overseas partnership.
In fact, there are three firms: Geely Automobile, Chang'an Automobile and Chery that have been talking to Ford about the Swedish automaker. Geely has been investigating about Volvo since December, but Chery has a good chance to buy a part of it too.
Chery is a state-owned automaker which has no foreign partners. The administration of the company plans to increase sales by 20% if it will be able to find a good helper. Chery’s spokesman does not say anything about Volvo in particular just admitting that "the global financial crisis provides good opportunities for China's self-branded carmakers" and that his company is not going to lose such a great opportunity for development.
Although Volvo has a pretty good chance to be owned by Chery, the Chinese experts have been looking at the other troubled European automakers as well.
Detroit manufacturers still want to sell Swedish marques. Both of them said there have been companies interested in the purchases, but they do not want to announce what are those firms.
The Chinese automaker Chery is really active lately. In the end of last year Chery was one of the main candidates to Volvo purchase when Ford decided to give it up.
Shanghai is going to welcome visitors of the 2009 Auto Show in April. One of the exhibits will be native to China. QQme was designed by Chery Automobile for young ladies.
Besides the upcoming purchase of a European automaker, Chinese manufacturer, Chery, works on electric vehicles that will be built in the home country for the local customers.
The Swedish automaker Volvo designed a new diesel engine which will be a part of Volvo S80. It is claimed to be much better than its predecessor.
