Chrysler Recalls Vehicles for Brake Failure

2010 Chrysler Sebring

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is requesting a recall of seven different Chrysler models made in 2009-2010 because they might have a defect that results in “brake failure without warning”. Totally the recall involves 24,177 vehicles. They are 2009-2010 Dodge Ram, 2010 Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Avenger, Dodge Nitro, Jeep Commander, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Jeep Liberty.

The NHTSA report states, “These vehicles may have been built with an improperly formed or missing brake booster input rod retaining clip.” This is a very serious problem which might lead to brake failure and eventually result in a road accident”. Chrysler says that there has not been any similar problem reported, but the vehicles will be recalled and fixed anyway.

The starting day on the recall is not clear yet, but it should be some time this month. The manufacturer will replace the brake booster input rod retaining clip in any of the above mentioned vehicles which will be brought to Chrysler dealerships. If the owners of the autos have already noticed the problem before and had it fixed somewhere else, the manufacturer will reimburse the cost if the vehicle owner sends an “original receipt and/or other adequate proof of payment to the company”.

If there are any questions the owners of Chrysler vehicles can contact the company at 1-800-853-1403.
