Finally the deal about the Saab sale is becoming clearer. GM Europe has announced that the Swedish manufacturer will be sold to Koenigsegg Group AB. There have been several candidates and in June the things started clearing out, but there was still a little uncertainty about the bid from the Koenigsegg company.
The president of GM Europe, Carl Peter Forster was happy to announce the news. He says, “We will continue to work with all parties to define the final details and ensure a fast closure of the deal which we expect to take place in the next few months.”
If the agreement goes fast enough Saab will change the owner in about a month. The small Swedish supercar manufacturer, Koenigsegg Group is going to take over 100% of the Saab shares.
After the deal is over Koenigsegg is planning to revise the potential of Saab and re-structure it into a “vibrant entrepreneurial company and make it sustainable by making it profitable”, according to Koenigsegg CEO, Christian von Koenigsegg.
General Motors does not have much luck with the brands it was going to sell. From the very beginning the manufacturer did not have much hope for any future of Pontiac and the brand was completely eliminated. Saturn/Opel had several potential buyers, but the deals were not successful as GM thought, so it still belongs to the American company.
Daimler AG has announced that is sold 5.34% of the stake in Tata Motors. The German company has raised more than $400 million for the shares it did not want to hold any more.
In the light of the recent mega-recalls Toyota started losing sales. In order to slow down the production, the manufacturer has decided to close two U.S. plants for an indefinite time till things clear up for the company.
Opel deal still remains unsolved and now General Motors thinks about keeping the brand. So far the spokesman of the company says they would not comment anything on Opel story.
