The talks about GM bankruptcy are over and the company is going to a new phase of life. The main assets of the company like Cadillac, Buick, Chevrolet and GMC have been sold to the so-called New GM.
General Motors President Fritz Henderson says that the new company will have bright future. The official automaker’s blog is full of exciting promises and hopes for productive new work. To the president’s opinion the new GM is going to be “operational and fully competitive with an exciting line of new products, a smaller and more focused brand portfolio and a clear mission to put the customer first in everything we do”.
In the last few weeks the GM officials had to work really hard to get through bankruptcy files. From the beginning of the year the company was under great pressure to make effective decisions denying the least beneficial branches and making plans for the increased productiveness of the remaining parts of the company.
Henderson comments the entire 2009 GM situation with the following words, “We have, in effect, been fixing our bike while we ride it. Now the repair work is almost done. We're ready for the challenge, and prepared to ride as fast as we can."
The American automaker, General Motors, does not plan buying lithium-ion batteries for electric cars from other manufacturers, the company has announced that there will be a plant built by them specifically for this purpose.
Seems like, Saab will not belong to Asian auto manufacturers, or any other foreign companies, because its parent firm, General Motors has announced the final decision today. The American automaker will sell Saab to Swedish supercar maker Koenigsegg Automotive.
General Motors is happy to announce that the sale of Saab and Opel is coming to the final talks. There have been several candidates, but the manufacturer has the number of them to final three for each brand.
General Motors was planning to get rid of Hummer for a while. Since last summer there have been talks that the marque will be sold if there are any interested parties.
U.S. president Barack Obama got tired with the constant begging of auto companies for bailouts and decided to stop the waste of tax dollars. He says, "We cannot continue to excuse poor decisions". He wants the American auto industry to survive, but not with the leaders who cannot run the companies right.
