Hyundai Sends the Millionth Car to Africa

Hyundai Millionth Car

Korean automaker, Hyundai Motor has been dealing with Africa since 1966. The first year the manufacturer has sent 207 vehicles to Liberia. These were Hyundai Pony cars. The sales were growing and this year Hyundai celebrates its one millionth export to Africa.

African market is one of the slowest in the world, but it does not prevent the Korean automaker from growing the sales. Last year Hyundai exported 160,603 autos to Africa which made it number two brand after Toyota. The majority of these autos are Avantes which were imported to Africa in the number of almost 130,000 units last year. However, in some countries the Korean automaker deals even better than the Japanese manufacturer. For example, in Egypt Hyundai holds 26.4% of all market share thanks to the big popularity of Avante.

The millionth car was Hyundai Avante which is named Elantra in the U.S. It was decorated by flowers and pink ribbons for the event. The celebration finished with the shipment of Avante on the vessel which took off to Egypt.
