Lotus Engineering decided to make London cars greener and make them take care of the environment.
The first project Lotus has is about taxis. The company plans to have the new hybrid zero-emission taxis done by 2012. The fuel cells in London taxis will integrate fuel with an electric drive train and hydrogen storage system.
Lotus also plans to work with Jaguar, MIRA and Caparo Vehicle Technologies on creating a “large luxury hybrid” sedan. The project is called “Limo-Green”. According to the information Jaguar will be equipped with a small battery pack, a small auxiliary power unit for cruising and an advanced drive motor.
The modern world is really interested in the new technologies and different companies work on the project which can help to keep the cars from polluting the air. Lotus CEO, Mike Kimberley, says they are very happy to work on two projects the purpose of which is to develop high technologies for hybrids and electric cars.
London is expecting to start the 2008 Auto show next week and one of the debuts from there is Lotus Eco Elise.
