Massachusetts Officials Help Toyota Owners

Toyota Recall

Toyota has recently announced a major recall to a number of its models due to the acceleration pedal problems. Massachusetts Division of Insurance has decided to help the drivers who had accidents because of the pedal condition. The Division and made a specific rule that protects the owners of the recalled Toyotas.

The statement from the officials says, "In light of the recently announced recall of certain models of Toyota vehicles for unintended acceleration, the Division of Insurance is issuing this (ruling for) drivers who may have received an at-fault determination as a result of (an) accident."

If a Toyota owner wants to reverse surcharges, he or she must prove that the accident was caused by the uncontrolled acceleration and that the vehicle falls into the category of the recalled Toyota autos. In order to start the case, the driver has to lodge an appeal which costs up to $50 and do it before March 30 or within 60 days of getting a recall notice, whichever is later.
