Mazda Powertrain Plans

Renesis 16X

Mazda representatives got more talkative lately and revealed their secrets about the future powertrain plans. Renesis rotary engine, presented last year, is one of the main parts in this strategy.

According to the words of the Japanese auto manufacturer, rotary engine is going to be significantly upgraded by the beginning of 2010. By this time Mazda plans to introduce new Renesis/16X and an E85 flex-fuel engine in North America and Europe.

And this is not the final point in their plans. Mazda experts think they can improve fuel efficiency of their vehicles by 30% by 2015.

Fuel-saving strategy includes the development of the new diesel engines, which will be accepted worldwide. This is a plan for 2011. By this time the company is going to make vehicles with diesel engines, which have much cleaner exhaust and will save fuel by 20%.
