New Year Brings New Prices

Auto Insurance

New year brings changes which are sometimes good and sometimes not. Two states, Wisconsin and Louisiana have decided to raise their minimum liability requirements which will affect the cost of the premiums. Starting January 1, 2010 many insurance providers in the states are going to have higher prices, so the consumers should shop around and check if it is still good to stay with the same company, or others give better options.

Due to the new requirements in Wisconsin liability coverage increase to $50,000 for the injury or death of a person, $100,000 for the injury or death of more than one person and $15,000 for property damage. After these requirements will be on for half a year, the state will also mandate the drivers to show a proof of such coverage if a law enforcement representative requests it.

Louisiana residents already have the most expensive premiums in the country, but this is not enough. According to various sources the cost of insurance will go up by 15-20%. The price of liability coverage increases to $15,000 for one person and $35,000 for more than one person. Property damage liability will go to $25,000.
