Within a few months Chrysler strategy has been changed greatly because of the Fiat influence and this is not going to stop. The Italian automaker offers more changes for all the brands it acquired. Here is some news about Dodge:
First of all the brand is going to be pulled out of Europe where it came only three years ago. It was introduced to European customers with the purpose to increase the general Chrysler sales, but Fiat is not interested in this because the Italian automaker already has good sales there. Besides, Fiat is planning big changes for Dodge strategy. The more detailed information about this is going to be unveiled in November at the big meeting in Detroit.
Another interesting thing is that the company thinks Ram does so well, that it might separate from Dodge and become a full brand which will produce trucks, vans and SUVs. While Ram will concentrate attention on commercial vehicles, Dodge will go the other direction offering affordable performance cars to the customers. The new Dodge models will be designed in the joint work with Alfa Romeo specialists.
It has been announced before that Ram would separate from Dodge and function as an individual brand which makes commercial vehicles. Fiat is already planning and expansion of the Ram vehicles for 2012.
Daimler AG has announced that is sold 5.34% of the stake in Tata Motors. The German company has raised more than $400 million for the shares it did not want to hold any more.
BYD is the Chinese battery and EV specialist which has recently decided to form a joint venture with the German Daimler AG. Although the companies are going to work together on many projects, Chinese media has announced that BYD is not planning to share its core technology on lithium-ion batteries and EV systems with the partner.
In the last weeks almost every American has heard and discussed the problem of Toyota vehicles that have to be recalled because of “unintended acceleration”. The Japanese manufacturer is suffering losses in sales and reputation of a company that builds safest cars, but there are many questions to be answered about this whole deal.
Many manufacturers are trying to create the best eco-friendly cars, this is why each auto show is full of hybrids, electric cars, bio-fuel and low emission technologies, and things alike. Fiat is preparing a stand at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show with two eco-projects: the Doblo Natural Power van and Twin-Air two-cylinder engine.
