Renew License Plate with Insurance Card

Kentucky license plate

The state of Kentucky has passed a law according to which the vehicle owners have to have their car insurance cards with them when they are renewing their auto license plates. This card has to be viewed by the county clerk before the new term on the plate is issued.

Unfortunately people don’t follow the law and often come to the clerk’s office without the proof of insurance. Beginning Sept. 1, this law will be strictly enforced in the Daviess County. It has been noted there are about 40-50 people coming to the office with the request to renew the license plate and not bringing their insurance cards.

This fact doesn’t mean the clerks are breaking the law and proceed without the card, but the vehicle owner has to call the insurance provider, who would fax the copy of the card to the office and meanwhile more people come and have to wait in a line because of a forgetful driver.

Now the clerk office will begin turning the customers away if they don’t bring the card with them.
