Russia Orders 20,000 New Ford Focuses

Ford Focus in Russia

In the middle of September 2007 the new Ford Focus was presented in Frankfurt. It impressed the Russian drivers so much, that the company has already received 20,000 orders for this vehicle from them.

Since 1999 when Ford Focus was brought to Russia, a quarter of a million of these cars was sold. And there is no surprise in this. From the very beginning of its existence on world market Ford Focus was awarded many times. In North America it got “Best New Car” Award, “Best Of What’s New” Grand Award, “Top Car Under $15,000” and some others. In Europe Ford Focus got prizes in all the different countries: “Goldenes Lenkrad” (Golden Steering Wheel) in Germany, “Car of The Year” in Scotland, Denmark and Estonia, “Ricerce Formale” in Italy, “Family Car of The Year” in Sweden. In total Ford Focus was awarded 80 times in Europe.

It gained so much popularity it became the first car in the world to get the “Car of The Year” award both in North America and Europe.

The plant in Russia started assembling new Ford Focus on February 18, 2008. The first vehicles in this new series belong to the Governor of Leningrad region and the vice-president of Ford of Europe.

Due to the great interest to this car from Russian customers, Ford plans to assemble Focus in all 4 body styles: wagon, 3-door, 4-door and 5 door. There will also be 3 different trim series: Ambiente, Comfort and Ghia, automatic and standard transmission and a variety of engines.
