Volkswagen created Scirocco three years ago as an affordable sport car for an every day usage. This summer the 2009 model will start its sales in U.K. and Germany.

In August the Volkswagen customers will be able to purchase a new Scirocco for $40,000 in the two countries. Later in fall the sales will start all over Europe.

This year VW offers the sport car with a choice of a four-cylinder gas or diesel engine which gives 120-horsepower and has a 1.4-liter capacity. The customers can also order a six-speed standard transmission or pay extra for a new seven-speed DSG automatic.

Scirocco is produced in Portugal and is imported to the rest of the European countries from there. Volkswagen plans to sell the model on the other continents as well. May of 2009 will be the beginning of sales in Japan, but there are no news for the Northern American market. The company thinks the car is not very much affordable for the buyers there.
