Selling Toyota?

Toyota

Every media source has already written something about the most recent Toyota recall. It involves over 2.3 million vehicles and many owners are concerned about their safety. Wanting to get rid of a car that might have acceleration problems, the owners notice that it is not as easy as they might think.

First of all, they should know that the value of any vehicle in recall drops significantly. It would have been good to trade it in before the recall, but one has to be a prophet to know the future and sell the vehicle so early. At this moment the one-three year old Toyota autos lose approximately $1,000-$2,000 in their usual resale value. Sometimes it might be a 10% price drop.

Secondly, some dealers will not take these cars for a short term, because they should not be sold until repaired. Although it is tough for the current owners, this rule saves the others from the troubles that they might encounter after becoming the new owners without knowing about the recall or vehicle’s possible flaw.

The best thing to do is not to panic, but try to work the problem out. The owner should contact the nearest Toyota dealership, find out if the model of the auto is in the recall and have the problem fixed if it is so. Any recall repairs should be done free of charge. After the work is done, there will be no need to sell the auto.
