Tata Motors Moves to a New Plant

Tata logo

We have written before about the problems Tata Motors had with its plant in West Bengal where the manufacturer planned to build mini car Nano. The Indian auto maker was accused by the local people and the farmers in particular for illegal and unfair conquer of the land for the assembly plant.

There were strikes, violent demonstrations, the workers were prevented from getting to their workplaces, and the trucks were stopped and pulled over… Tata Motors finally got fed up with these threats and moved to Sanand, Gujrat state.

The company has already signed an agreement with the state government, according to which the production will start in 12 months. The new facility will have larger capacity than the one in West Bengal and will be able to produce 250,000 mini cars a year.

This time the head of Tata Motors showed itself from a smarter point of view by purchasing the territory which belongs to the government only, this way the auto maker cannot be accused in any farmland conquering. The new plant will be built on 1,100 acres, which have to be investigated by the specialists for different aspects before the construction starts.
