Toyota Plans to Use Ecological Plastic

2010 Toyota Prius

Toyota is one of the leading “green” automakers. The entire world knows about their hybrids and the projects on ecologically clean vehicles and now the Japanese manufacturer wants to arrange the interior of the new autos with the “green” plastic.

The company has not announced what vehicle will be done this way, but mostly the experts say it will be 2010 Toyota Prius which is going to be presented at 2009 Detroit Auto Show in January.

The “ecological plastic” will be used in headliners, scuff plates, seat cushions and some other parts. By the end of 2009 Toyota plans to use up to 60% “green” plastic in its vehicles.

According to the manufacturer’s words this special ecologically clean product is made out of polymer materials received from plants. The ordinary plastic uses petroleum and this causes carbon dioxide emission which increases global warming and “ecological plastic” doesn’t produce CO2 and at the same time meets heat- and shock-resistance demands.
