Volkswagen team has worked really hard during this year to increase the sales and put their vehicles to the different markets of the world. The results turned out great: the company became one of the top three auto makers, who have the biggest sales on the international car market.
Ford used to take the third position in this list, but VW overtook it in the first half of the year. The German manufacturer plans to work even harder and increase the sales more.
Its chief executive, Martin Winterkorn, thinks the company finally found the right track and what the different markets want from the auto makers. Now they plan to stay on this track and push their product more even in the hard situation on the market like now.
According to the data, Volkswagen sales got 7.2% increase in the first half of this year; it means they sold 3.31 million vehicles.
Volkswagen came to the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show with a new small car. E Up! is called “the Beetle of the 21st Century” by the manufacturer although it has a significantly different look from the bug-car.
This year Brazil celebrates 30 years of flex-fuel vehicles on the market. By this time 90% of all autos sold in the country use both gasoline and ethanol.
Volkswagen says it is not enough to have gasoline and diesel-powered SUV, now they have to make a hybrid with the same name. Half-electric Touaregs is going to be a fuel efficient auto using up to 25 mpg in the city limit.
New Volkswagen Golf VI is already expecting the customers at the European dealerships, but North America will have to wait for the auto’s coming a little more.
The upcoming 2009 Dakar Rally, which will take place in South America this year, will become a place of presentation of some interesting designs.
