Volkswagen has been the leader on the Brazil auto market for more than two decades with its small hatchback Gol, but in 2002 Fiat took the first place from the German auto maker. After a long preparation VW is ready to compete again with the Novo Gol, absolutely remodeled and improved.
The new hatchback has four-doors, PQ24 platform (the same as in Polo and Fox made by VW) and a variety of engines. The standard model comes with 1.0 and 1.6-liter engines and priced for U.S. $18,000 and $20,100. The manufacturer tried to make it available and reliable as in all the years before.
The higher level model is Novo Gol Power. It doesn’t have a stronger engine, but remains with 1.6-liter, the better features for it are mostly cosmetic: more attractive head and tail lamps and grille. It is also equipped with fog lights, reflector headlights, back window defogger and power steering. Airbags and ABS are considered to be luxury in the Brazil cars and the manufacturer installed them in the Novo Gol Power.
Besides hatchback, Volkswagen plans to offer Novo Gol sedan, which will go on sale in October this year.
