Modern life, especially if you live in a North American city, is hectic and complicated. Multitasking, stress, high prices, job demands, pollution, overpopulation… the list is endless! Living in the midst of all that, we at least can make our life a bit more bearable if we use efficient transportation.
Most of us have to go to an office or other remote place to work every day. We need to take our kids to school, our pets to the vet, we have appointments at doctor’s offices, restaurants, gyms, and clubs, we are to go shopping for food and other necessities, and sometimes we want to escape the city and go to the countryside far apart from the place where we live… Our options are not vast - we should either possess our own car, or take the public transportation, such as a bus or taxi, in order to keep with the demands of our busy lives. Both choices have their own advantages and disadvantages. If you choose to use the public transport, you will have to wait for buses and still walk a lot in any weather, or you will have to rush for available cabs. If you choose to drive, here will come high costs of fuel, problems with parking, a high level of personal responsibility, and, of course, costly auto insurance and maintenance payments.
For the sake of convenience, most people choose to drive their own cars, especially in the U.S. and Canada where the public transportation infrastructure is not developed enough. With owning a car inevitably comes a necessity to purchase a car insurance.
Car insurance is, in fact, an agreement between a vehicle owner and the insurer, the company that requires you to pay annual premiums. In exchange, the insurer is obliged to cover your expenses in case of a traffic accident. Therefore, if you have an auto insurance, which is anyway mandatory in most regions, you can be assured that if anything happen to your car on the road, you will be financially protected and your accident-related expenses will be reimbursed by your insurer.
Car insurance provides different sorts of coverage, ranging from a financial protection in case your car has been smashed in an accident or stolen, to the coverage of your medical expenses related to the accident. Many insurers also offer liability for passengers and other third parties. If you have been proven guilty in causing a car damage or injury as a result of a traffic accident, you can rely on your insurer to reimburse the cost of auto damage, medical bills, and compensation for the third party.
The average term of auto insurance validity is one year, after which the car owner has to renew his or her policies. Remember to always renew your auto insurance since the insurer does not carry any financial obligations to you if the coverage period has expired. The cost of the annual premium depends on many factors, some of which are the type of insurance coverage, the package, the policies of the particular insurer, and the cost of the car being insured.
